A number of managers in the Irish community recognise that Ireland is a very small nation in TM terms (pretty bloody small in actual terms too) and therefore if we want to compete in the international competitions we have to find ways to work a little harder than our large European neighbours. One of the problems in Ireland, and TM generally, is the high numbers of managers who fall out of the game due to inactivity. This is a common problem for any online game - there is an incredible amount of competition out there. New managers can lose interest quickly, particularly as TM runs on such a long timescale. However, established managers can make the Irish community a more welcoming place and one of the ways to do this is through mentoring new teams.
Have a look at the mentors' teams below and see if you like what you see. PM your selected mentor, introducing yourself with perhaps a little bit of background on what tactics you prefer etc. Your mentor will have a look at your team and offer an appraisal on its strengths and weaknesses. They will advise a direction for you to take. It's optional whether you want to take the advice or not. But remember TM is a long haul game, you often have to think 2, maybe 3 seasons in advance. Your mentor can help with this long term planning.
If you are having problems of a more short term nature, then check the User Guide first. If still no joy, then search the forums. Try not to bother your mentor with overly frequent requests. There are over 100,000 people playing this game now and more often than not someone has already posted something about it...
These managers have kindly offered to help:
In the game since season 6. Rocketed into the League of Ireland. Plays a defensive game (or not!) and a very active member of the Irish community. Picked up 3rd and 2nd Division titles on the way to the top. Designs logos to order.
Achieved the top flight in three straight promotions coming up from Division 4 in Season 5. Another very active member. Division 3 champion in season 6.
Le Sharks. One of the most, if not the most, successful Irish manager. Began the game in Season 3, LOI in Season 4 and that's where he's stayed. Four league titles to his credit. Irish National coach (NT).
Playing since Season 6. A challenger in the ever-competitive Division 2.2. Active member. Plays a direct style of football with players who can pass a ball around. Prefers Irish players, but is not adverse to them foreigners when the market requires.
Another rapid climber - was promoted in 4 successive seasons up from Division 5 in Season 8 to LOI in season 12. Has never finished out of the top 2.
The first team to be promoted in 4 seasons from Division 5 to the LOI. Three league titles to his name. Been in the game under another guise for a long time. Oft controversial, but very successful and active.
Another long term member of the game with a new team. Excellent tactical know-how. Proves what can be achieved with lower ASI players. Former NT.
In current form since Season 8 after a controversial forum-related misunderstanding. Outspoken and active member. Fond of the NT end of season sales. Cup runner-up Season 9. Champ 3.5, season 11.
Stan Franciscans - in the game since season 9, one of the newer teams to assemble a formidable side and get to the League of Ireland. Always keen to help new managers find their feet.
Absolutely hopeless, but would feel rude not participating. No titles and in a constant war with expenses. Proponent of the youth development route, even though he can't afford it. Really prefers rugby, but what you gonna do?
