Firstly, make sure you read the Manual, refer back to it after you have familiarised yourself with the game. It is not perfect, but there is still alot of info there. Most new teams in Ireland begin in the 5th division. Generally these teams are actually very good, with some having up to 130k total asi. There is no need to rush into the transfer market straight away. Better to wait until you have more of an idea on your team's actual strengths and weaknesses. Don't sell your good players to cash in at the start, replacing them for the money you get is very tough. Keep your good players for the time being and secure promotion to higher divisions where earning more money is possible. Remember it's only a game and the difference between top and bottom teams can be at times more level than in real life. Anything can happen and you got to take the crunchy with the smooth.
Facilities
- Do not improve your facilities too quickly - in division 5 or 6 get to level 2-3 on TG and YD and level 2 anything else. Stadium should be 2.2 times your fanbase.
- In division 3 upgrade to between level 4-5 for TG and YD and maintain most other things at lvl 2.
- In division 2 allow up to level 6-7 TG and YD; VIP should be up near level 3 or 4.
- By the time you're in division 1 you should understand the game enough to judge these things...!
- Don't spend all your money on YD and TG, they don't pay off for at least 4 seasons.
- Your Merchandise, F&D should bring in 39.00 per fan per game at the correct level. If you need to calculate this simply make a note of the Merchandise figure after financial update (Thursday) but before playing a game, then make a note of your Merchandise and F&D after your home game. Now comes the maths…
(Post Match Merchandise + F&D – Pre Match Merchandise) / Attendance = income
Scouts, Youth, Training
- Hire 2 scouts to start with and scout your entire team to try find a natural leader, see who is violent etc etc. Fire the second scout once the whole team is scouted.
- If you scout someone just before 00:00 TM time, you'll get the report back in a couple of minutes.
- You want scouts with high Yth (for their potential) and Dev (for when finding out when they bloom) and at least one with good Psy for finding your leader.
- Hire any youth over 8* and scout them, if they are less than 10 from the scout, then fire them.
- Once you have a good youth prospect, scout him every 2 weeks to see how his bloom is going, if he is in bloom, finished bloom, late bloomer.
- Only hire the best training coaches, but don't be fooled into hiring 5 coaches because you can. Hire 3: 1 goalkeeper coach, 1 defensive coach and 1 attacking coach.
- Split your team into defence and attack and this should help focus your training (particularly for youths).- ASI is only an indicator of a players skill. Some players with low ASI can be very skillful and productive.
Tactics
- Find a tactic which works for your team's stats - if you have pacey wingers with good crossing and midfielders and strikers with good heading, then consider playing on the wings as a tactic. If your midfielders and defenders are great passers and your strikers are pacey with good positioning, maybe play through balls.
- Check out what your opponent usually plays - eg, if they play wings tactic make sure to play defenders with good heading.
- Start with a top keeper as a first priority, it may gain you a lot of points.
- Don't be afraid of buying foreigners; you're only allowed 5 in your lineup, but generally they are cheaper.- Try to have as many players in their favourite position as possible - no more than 3 out of position.
