Good evening. It has been ages since I did a blog so I think it's time to do my first blog of Season 23.
We had a dramatic beginning to the season when we went 2-0 down in both the first two games. We battled back for an excellent 3-2 win in the opener and a last gasp penalty earned a good 2-2 draw in the second game. We followed up these with 4-0 and 3-1 wins to go one clear at the top which was very satisfying. Then followed a frustrating 1-1 draw with our bogey team Claremorris United in a game that we completely dominated in terms of scoring opportunities but sadly we couldn't find a winner. We were still top of 3.3 on goals scored though and we cemented our position at the top with a fine 6-0 win over Funkateer United in our latest fixture. It has been a nice, solid start over the opening 6 games and I am quite happy with it.
Off the field, recent events have been just as dramatic. L. McMahon, K. Brannagh and P. Tyrrell were disposed of 9 days ago for a combined 101 million, which put the club into the unfamiliar position of having a large cash surplus. That meant that I had roughly 170 million to play with coming into last week. Immediately, I was in the market for one or two players to bolster my squad. I was looking at some DLs and MLs, but what I wanted in particular was a solid GK to replace the aging P. Grigorov. On Sunday I found a Brazilian GK that I really took a fancy to. He had about 100k ASI so I knew he would likely be beyond my budget. However, I decided to put in a 120 million and maybe I could do more bidding close to the deadline in the hope that I could steal him for less than 170 million. I would have been delighted with that!
It never came to that though...
When I came home, I opened my computer to check on the bidding. I was shocked to find TM down again. When the dust settled and TM was restored, a biger shock came: I had bought Jamilton during the downtime for a paltry 75.7 million. I was elated, the seller was devastated and the heist of the year had occurred!
This was certainly my best ever signing in TM and I'm hoping he will bring my team on a lot. He has already made his debut in the league game against Funkateer United and he had a very good game. Watch this space! :)
Youth pulls have also gone reasonably well for me this season. Well, as usual it has been up and down. Week 1 saw me get the dreaded 3 7*s. But week 2 I got 2 15* defenders and a 6* too which is not a bad return. I'm hopeful that I can have a decent season in YD for once! lol
Well, that's it for tonight. Remember to say a prayer or two to the TM Gods so that TM doesn't go down again! :D
